Unique piece
Artist : Rena Juan
This handmade wooden statuette is the work of a Navajo sculptor who creates characters that are part of everyday or folkloric scenes. Here, she has sculpted and painted by hand a Native American woman in a traditional outfit:
She has the wrapped hairstyle of married women. This long bun covers her ears which are adorned with Jacla pendants, a jewel very representative of Native American Southwestern jewelry. In terms of accessories, we also see collar tips and a round shape on her chest that could be a pendant or a bolo tie in turquoise. And a long fringed shawl covers her from shoulders to feet.
Dimensions (H x W): 30,5cm x 11cm
(12 inches x 4 inches 3/8)
Proudly handmade in the USA.
