One of a Kind piece - Navajo bracelet

A beautiful Navajo bracelet made of sterling silver, set with a Kingman turquoise (Arizona) and corals. 

This bracelet is handcrafted thanks to the Sandcast technique, one of the oldest process used by the Navajos: The artist takes a mold made of sand (sandcast) and divises it in two parts. In the first part, he carves a design of his choice, melts silver in, and tightly covers it with the second part of the mold. Once the silver is hard, the jewel created has a traditionnal rough aspect on which we can clearly see the beautiful lumps of the sandcast. 

The stones feature a serrated bezel setting, accented with small hand-chiseled beads. At the center, the turquoise is encircled by a delicate rope detail reminiscent of a lasso. For Native American jewelers, the stone is meant to be tamed like a wild animal, reflecting the artisan’s mastery.
