Stunning Navajo ring
This sterling silver ring is inlaid with cerrillos turquoise (New Mexico).
Inlay is a Native jewelry-making process, mastered by the Zuni tribe, but here carefully crafted by a Navajo silversmith:
Genuine gemstones (here two turquoises from the southwestern United States with very different shades and matrices, combined with black-jet, known for its deep black color), are cut and assembled by hand to create a geometric pattern. The whole is polished to a smooth, elegant finish.
This type of marquetry is called "channel inlay" and can be recognized by the fine silver bars that compartmentalize the stones.
Width: 1cm
(0.3/8 inch)
This ring is in sterling silver.
Proudly Navajo handmade in the USA.
