"Night Ceremony" Navajo Ring
Navajo micro-inlay ring featuring a superb star inlay set in sterling silver.
This unique ring honors Navajo night ceremonies. On a black-jet background, a celestial scene comes to life: twinkling stars, a luminous moon, a red planet and symbolic lightning bolts, all meticulously inlaid in micro-marquetry. Made from white opal, coral and jet, and set in sterling silver, each stone tells the story of a part of the sacred sky.
"The Night Ceremonies is a sacred vigil, a night when the ancient songs of the Navajo people, known as Yei' Bi' Chei, or songs of the mountain, are sung. This nine-night healing ritual aims to restore spiritual harmony and heal bodies and souls through dance, song and sand painting. Long and complex, it requires years of apprenticeship to pass on. Guided by a healer, the ceremony is based on profound ritual gestures, including four essential rites: choosing a place in the rock, invoking a natural element, wood, dancing by a river and singing. This ritual embodies the spiritual soul of the Navajo people, and the ancient strength of their traditions.
