One of a Kind piece

Beautiful silver ring made by Kari Begay, a Navajo artist linked to a large family of Native silversmiths : the Begays are well known and respected and have received numerous awards for their creations.

Kari Begay is known for creating beautiful geometric designs that she makes with the overlay technique.
 

This process is composed of two flat pieces of the same size, nested one on the other. The one on top is cut with a pattern and acts as a "stencil". It is applied to the bottom one, creating a silver background. This background is oxidized and covered with patina to create contrast between the two pieces.
