One of a Kind piece
Navajo heart pendant inlaid of Kingman turquoise (Arizona) and Pilot Mountain turquoise (Nevada) set in sterling silver.
This pendant is a fine example of a process known as "channel inlay": It's a marquetry technique in which hand-cut stones are compartmentalized by small silver bars to create a geometric pattern. The whole is polished to a smooth, elegant finish.
The inlay is a jewelry technique originally mastered by the Zuni, but here well realized by a Navajo artist.
This inlay is mounted on a finely worked silver base: the heart is surrounded by a silver cord (reminiscent of a lasso and the taming of the stone), and small spheres adorn the setting and pendant ring.
Dimensions including clasp (L x W): 5cm x 3cm
(2 inches x 1 inch 1/4)
This pendant is in sterling silver.
Navajo creation, proudly handmade in the USA.
