One of a Kind piece
Beautiful Navajo pendant in sterling silver and micro-inlay, handmade by Matthew Jack.
This stunning Navajo pendant is representative of the "micro-inlay" technique, of which the artist is a real expert: On a black-jet background, he has created a mythological figure and various astral symbols in different fine stones such as turquoises, coral, mother-of-pearl and opal, as well as a multitude of small silver dots.
Each element is meticulously hand-carved and then assembled to create the overall design desired by the artist. The whole is polished, for a smooth and elegant look, and in this case, with unparalleled details.
The scene represented here is inspired by the theme of the "Night Chants", which are performed during nine nights in winter. These ceremonies are led by dancers with squared faces and high headdresses, who personnifies the Yei'bi'chei (Navajo holy people).
Dimensions including pendant ring (L x W) : 2 inches 1/4 x 1 inch 1/4
