Navajo Necklace
A beautiful Navajo necklace made of hammer shell Heishi beads and raw turquoise nuggets, adorned with seven small turquoise pendants shaped like corn kernels.
The corn is a very positive element for the Natives as it represents good crop, an essential symbol of life.
The Heishi handcraft is a long and meticulous process: First, rough-cut stones or shells are drilled and then strung on a wire, after which the artist holds both ends of the strand and carefully draws the beads back and forth across a grinding wheel or other rough surface to shape the Heishi beads.
Necklace length (including clasp): 55cm (21 inches 1)
Clasp in sterling silver.
Proudly Navajo handmade in the USA.
As each piece is unique, the colors of the turquoise may vary.
