One of a Kind piece - Pueblo necklace
Beautiful Pueblo necklace featuring a gradation of Heishi beads in Kingman turquoise (Arizona), and fine hand-carved spiny oyster pendants in the shape of a corn kernel.
Corn beads is an extremely positive element for the Natives. It represents the good harvest, the absolute symbol of life.
Heishi beads are meticulously hand-crafted over a long period of time: stones, shells or other raw materials are first cut, then pierced and strung on a wire. The artist then grinds this strand on a grinding wheel to form the Heishi beads.
The quality of genuine Heishi beads can be recognized by their uniform, smooth feel.
