One of a Kind Piece
Hopi brooch in sterling silver and 14K gold, depicting a Pueblo village.
This sterling silver brooch is made using the Overlay technique.
This process consists of two flat pieces of the same size, nested one on top of the other. The top piece is cut with a pattern and acts as a "stencil". It is applied to the bottom piece, creating a silver background. This background is oxidized and scratched to create contrast between the two pieces.
Wearing this brooch will protect you. The arrow symbolizes protection. It guides and watches over you.
In addition, the artist has depicted a traditional village, the Pueblo, recognizable by its small flat-roofed houses (Adobe houses).
On one of the houses, the artist adds a touch of light. A dot of 14K gold evokes the rising sun on this ancestral landscape. The whole is rounded off with three delicately hand-chiselled lines.
Dimensions (H x W): 38mm x 45mm
