Fetish earrings: little turtles in black-jet.

These little turtles are meticulously hand-carved in black-jet and enhanced of Heishi beads (tubular beads) in black-jet and Sleeping Beauty turquoise (Arizona). 

The turtle symbolizes protection, longevity, love and knowledge (it is the mother of the earth).

In a time when the Zuni tribe lived from agriculture and hunting, the hunters couldn't do without these amulets and would never forget to bring them during their expeditions. The fetishes assure benevolence of the soul. Each animal represents its spirit, its own inner force and protects its owner.
