Navajo bracelet in sterling silver, delicately adorned with pretty butterflies.

In Native American culture, the butterfly is a symbol of fulfillment, grace, and transformation.

This magnificent bracelet is representative of a cutting-edge Hopi jewelry technique, masterfully crafted here by a Navajo jeweler using the overlay process : two flat pieces of the same size are interlocked. The top piece is cut out with a pattern and acts as a “stencil.” It is applied to the bottom piece, creating a silver background. This background is oxidized and scratched to create contrast between the two pieces.
