One of a Kind piece
Beautiful Navajo bracelet made with the Tufa Cast technique, one of the oldest jewelry processes used by the Navajo:
The artist takes a mold made of volcanic stone (tufa) and divises it in two parts. In the first part, he carves a design of his choice, melts silver in, and tightly covers it with the second part of the mold. Once the silver is hard, the mold eventually breaks, making this piece a unique item. This technique creates a jewel of traditional rough aspect on which we can clearly see the beautiful lumps of tufa stone.
On this luminous bracelet, the artist has chosen to sprinkle delicate crosses throughout the jewel. A simple motif, but one charged with meaning: the cross, symbol of choice and crossing paths.
The dark background highlights each cross, playing on contrasts to bring them to life.
The hand-crafted frame is adorned with the magnificent prints, which seem almost alive. They feature small shells, as if the sea itself had blown over the metal. A nod to nature, always present in Amerindian jewelry.
