A large catalog of ethnic necklaces

If you are passionate about Native American culture or if you simply look for a piece of jewelry with character to enhance your outfit, HARPO's ethnic necklaces in turquoise and sterling silver are a fine selection of quality.

HARPO necklaces are of course made of turquoise and silver, but you will also find necklaces with lapis lazuli or coral, as well as Heishi beads and bead chains made entirely of silver to enhance beautiful pendants.

Fetish necklaces

The Fetish necklace is an emblematic Native American jewel and and HARPO we offer many variations of it. Whether it is a chocker or a ribbon, entirely made of turquoise or made of several stones and shells, this type of necklace is made of several elements:  A turquoise eagle with spread wings often serves as the central pendant, and various animals carved in turquoise, jet, pipestone, gorgonian, or other stones, are spun on one or two strings of Heishi beads (tubular beads), made of turquoise or shell.

At HARPO, we also have a more contemporary version of the Fetish necklace, with models entirely made of sterling silver.

In the days when the Zuni lived by farming and hunting, fetishes were indispensable amulets for hunters, who never failed to take them with them on their expeditions. The fetishes ensure the benevolence of the soul. Each animal represents its own spirit, its own inner strength, and protects the wearer.

Heishi necklaces

The Pueblo, "Kewa" are a tribe in the Southwestern United States known for their Heishi beads, which are tubular and/or puck-shaped beads, all handcrafted with different materials and stones (turquoise, jet, coral and other shells).

Heishi pearl necklaces are timeless and unisex pieces, which are available at HARPO in different lengths and materials. The production of Heishi beads is long and meticulous: stones such as turquoise, shells or other raw materials are cut, then drilled and strung on a wire, and then the artist grinds this string on a grinding wheel to form the Heishi beads.

The quality of genuine Heishi necklaces can be recognized by their uniform and smooth feel.

The silver beads necklaces

Native American jewelers are known for their chain work made of small silver beads. These beads create fine necklaces, in matte of shiny sterling silver, made of round or saucer beads, in various lengths to match any gender and style. These silver chains are ideal to wear with Heishi necklaces and assemble with beautiful pendants: silver feathers, inlaid feathers, arrows, Naja, Kokopelli, bear paw, etc.

Our One-of-a-Kind pieces

Some renowned Native American jewelers make beautiful one-off pieces, with a style specific to each artist. You will find beautiful Squash Blossom necklaces, this traditional necklace worn during ceremonies (more details on our article dedicated to Squash Blossom). But also necklaces set with turquoises or made of raw turquoises. Necklaces made of mosaics of various materials like the iconic Thunderbird necklace. Multi-row chokers with Heishi beads. Or Zuni necklaces adorned with their beautiful multicolored inlays.

Zuni marquetry is a meticulous process in which stones (most often turquoise, coral, mother-of-pearl and jet) are cut and assembled by hand to create a geometric pattern of perfect harmony and exceptional rendering. The whole is then polished to a sumptuous and unmatched mirror-like appearance, both smooth and elegant.

Harpo's "Classics" collection

Our timeless collection of Navajo "Liquid Silver" necklaces will meet any of your needs:

Chokers, Y necklaces, concho necklaces, all perfect to make a gift or to treat yourself... You will find them all in our "Classics" collection

"Liquid silver" is a traditional Navajo jewelry technique. It involves hand spinning of tubular silver beads (called Heishi) on one or several nylon strings. This gives a fluid effect on the skin, reminding silk or water, hence the name of this process by the Navajo.

HARPO's Liquid Silver necklaces are made of sterling silver tubular beads and various resin beads of turquoise, coral, lapis lazuli and onyx, forming a collection suitable for all styles:
