One of a Kind piece

Very rare gorgeous ring made by Steven J Begay, a Navajo artist coming from a large family of Native silversmiths : the Begay  are a well-known and respected family in the business, and Steven J has won numerous awards for his creations.

This highly original ring is a fine example of Steven J. Begay's style: he's known for making rich and beautiful geometric designs that he creates with the overlay technique. 

This process is composed of two flat pieces of the same size, nested one on the other. The one on top is cut with a pattern and acts as a "stencil". It is applied to the bottom one, creating a silver background. This background is oxidized and covered with a patina to create contrast between the two pieces.
