BA1315 bague Harpo argent
One of a Kind piece
Beautiful Hopi ring in sterling silver representing a bear and many Native petroglyphs.
In the Native culture, the bear is an emblematic animal that is a symbol of strength, health and knowledge. The artist has taken care to surround it with numerous petroglyphs representing clouds and rain (a life force for this desert people), forming a beautiful set of traditional Hopi designs.
This ring is also a superb example of a jewelry technique developed by the Hopi: the overlay.
This process is composed of two flat pieces of the same size, put one on the other. The one on top is cut with a pattern and acts as a "stencil". It is applied to the bottom one, creating a silver background. This background is oxidized and scraped to create contrast between the two pieces.
You have here an example of a strong and gorgeous jewel, that will amaze everybody.
Width on the phalanx : 2,4cm (1 inch)
This ring is in sterling silver.
