- The Originals
One of a Kind piece.
This sterling silver ring represents a dragonfly inlaid of Kingman turquoise (Arizona) and coral. This type of process is called "cobble inlay". The "cobble inlay" is known to be a contemporary technique with a beautiful thick aspect that reminds the ancestral art of mosaic.
The setting of this ring is made with the Tufa Cast technique, one of the oldest process used by the Navajos:
The artist takes a mold made of volcanic stone (tufa) and divises it in two parts. In the first part, he carves a design of his choice, melts silver in, and tightly covers it with the second part of the mold. Once the silver is hard, the mold eventually breaks, making this piece a unique item. This technique creates a jewel of traditional rough aspect on which we can clearly see the beautiful lumps of tufa stone.
The dragonfly is the symbol of wind and deftness, it represents illusion and the need of change.
Size of the dragonfly (H x L) in inches: 1.1" x 2.4"
This ring is in sterling silver.
