One of a Kind piece
Stunning Pueblo Kewa necklace made of Heishi beads and five inlaid hummingbird feathers, all in King Manassa turquoise (Colorado) and black-jet.
This necklace is representative of the beautiful work of the Kewa artist who created it, making his inlaid hummingbird feathers true symbols of his talent. The hummingbird is a fetish bird that embodies joy, life and love.
Pueblo artists are known as the early representatives of Native jewelry as we know it today. For over a century, they have been making jewelry from natural materials (stones, shells, wood...).
Heishi beads are meticulously crafted over a long period of time: stones, shells or other raw materials are first cut, then pierced and threaded onto a wire. The artist then grinds this strand on a grinding wheel to form the Heishi pearls. The quality of genuine Heishi pearls can be recognized by their uniformity and smoothness to the touch.
Dimensions of each feather (L x W): 4.3cm x 1.5cm
(1 inch 3/4 x 0.5/8 inch)
Necklace length: 53cm (21 inches)
Sterling silver clasp.
Proudly Pueblo handmade in the USA.
