Zuni fetish. Unique piece.

This bear is sculpted in cottonwood (very light) and has little turquoise nuggets on a tendon strand on its back, to get more power and protection.

The face of this bear is very similar to a cartoon, which is a quite rare yet recently existing in Zuni's handcraft.
 

The bear is symbol of strength, health and knowledge.

In a time when the Zuni tribe lived from agriculture and hunting, the hunters couldn't do without these amulets and would never forget to bring them during their expeditions. The fetishes assure benevolence of the soul.
