Zuni fetish. Unique piece.

This lovely meeting of turquoise hand-carved fetish frogs is called "Lunch time".

Six beautiful frogs made in different American turquoises (going from blue sky tone to khaki green shade) are gathered around a little fly sculpted in black marble. All these characters sit on a raw black-jet slab.

The frog is symbol of healing, calling for rain and good crop.

In a time when the Zuni tribe lived from agriculture and hunting, the hunters couldn't do without these amulets and would never forget to bring them during their expeditions. The fetishes assure benevolence of the soul. Each animal represents its spirit, its own inner force and protects its owner.
