Kewa Pueblo earrings representing Thunder Bird.
Thunder Bird is a South West classic symbol for the Natives. It is represented as an impressive condor able to create thunder by beating its wings and lightning by blinking its eyes.
These earrings are typical of the Kewa's mosaïc inlay work. The Thunder Bird shape is carved in black-jet. Its body and wings are inlaid of varied-size turquoises, its beak and chest are in mother-of-pearl and its head is in shell.
